The South Carolina Conference and UMCOR have scheduled two free training opportunities aimed at helping local churches develop a disaster response plan and better position themselves to respond when disaster strikes.
“Connecting Neighbors” – scheduled for 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 28 at Macedonia UMC in Mullins and Nov. 29 at First UMC in Conway – is designed to show church leaders how they can best prepare their churches to be in mission and ministry when their communities encounter a disaster.
Pastors and laity will learn how to identify and meet specific needs after a disaster, enabling them to immediately respond in their own communities.
“The time to think about disaster response is not the week before a hurricane hits,” said Matt Brodie, conference disaster response coordinator. “It’s too late if you wait until the storm is on the horizon.”
Please complete the form below to register. There is no fee, but we need to know how many people to expect. Lunch will be provided.
