The Annual Meeting of the South Carolina Christian Action Council is scheduled for May 18 at Grace United Methodist Church, 410 Harbison Blvd., Columbia.
The theme of the meeting is “Caring for the Stranger: The Church Needed Today.”
Registration is required by May 11 to guarantee availability of a meal. The registration fee is $50, or $25 for students. Both fees include lunch.
The meeting includes an ecumenical worship service, networking, fellowship meal, exhibits and the McClain Social Issue Lecture: “Caring for the Stranger: Immigrants, Refugees, Others.”
The lecture will be presented by Tammy Besherse, an attorney with the S.C. Appleseed Legal Justice Center who specializes in immigration issues, and a representative from Refugee and Immigrant Services with Lutheran Services Carolinas.
Check-in begins at 9:30Â a.m. The meeting will end at 2 p.m.
The South Carolina Christian Action Council promotes and facilitates dialogue among diverse Christian traditions on matters of belief and practice, advocates for social justice, promotes peace-making, and fosters racial and cultural healing and reconciliation.
The South Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church is a member of the Christian Action Council.
