Time is running out to apply for a scholarship to study Christian unity and grants for local churches and other groups that operate ecumenical or interreligious ministries.

The deadline is Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, to apply for these opportunities, supported by the UMC Council of Bishops:

Bossey Ecumenical Institute Scholarship

Applicants for a $10,000 scholarship to attend the World Council of Churches’ 2019 Ecumenical Institute at Bossey, must be younger than 30, attending a seminary, and in the process of vocational ordination as a deacon or elder. Bossey is a five-month experience in Geneva, Switzerland, with Christians gathered from across the world to study global Christian unity.

Local Initiative Grants

The Council of Bishops gives three $1,000 Local Initiative Grants each year to groups within annual conferences that are doing “excellent ecumenical and/or interreligious ministries.” Priority is given to ministries that are ecumenical/interreligious both in focus/invitation and scope/goals.
