The second phase of the “Praying Our Way Forward” initiative was launched New Year’s Day 2017, with 75 weeks of focused prayer for the United Methodist Church.
Each annual conference is taking one week to lead intentional prayer for the mission of the United Methodist Church to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. We also are praying for the work of the Commission on a Way Forward, which began meeting in January to find a united path forward amid divisions regarding human sexuality.
The effort began in January in the North Carolina Conference and will finish in the West Angola Episcopal Area in June.
The South Carolina Annual Conference is blessed to be leading the entire church in prayer during the joyous week of Christmas, Dec. 24-30.
The aim of “Praying Our Way Forward” is to ask and listen for God’s leadership at this critical time in the life of our church.
In addition to participating in a designated week of prayer, individuals are invited to join the initiative by praying daily and fasting weekly for our church, its mission and its future
Bishop L. Jonathan Holston invites all South Carolina United Methodists to pray that we may address our differences with authenticity and respectful conversations that enrich our understanding of God and of one another.
