Bishop Marcus Matthews and members of the Africa University Board of Directors have decided to cancel all planned Africa University activities scheduled for Friday, Sept. 8, through Sunday, Sept. 10, in the Charleston and Walterboro districts.
The school leaders’ decision made their decision in consideration of the safety of persons traveling to and from the area in the coming days and due to the emergency declared in advance of the potential impact of Hurricane Irma on South Carolina.
For the first time in its 25+-year journey with S.C. United Methodists, Africa University leaders and advisers had planned to meet in North Charleston this weekend. Many of those events will be rescheduled.
