The Hispanic/Latino Task Force of the South Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church is opening up to new members.

The deadline to apply is Feb 28.

The Hispanic/Latino Task Force seeks to promote inclusion and advocate for the rights of the Hispanic/Latino population in South Carolina. It also seeks to develop Hispanic/Latino leaders within the S.C. Annual Conference by equipping local churches, districts and the conference with best practices and strategies for their particular context.

The task force works in partnership with the Office of Connectional Ministries, the Office of Congregational Development and other boards and agencies within the United Methodist Church.

The Hispanic/Latino Task Force will meet at 9 a.m. March 4 at Lexington United Methodist Church in Lexington to begin planning for a time of restructuring, discernment and visioning. All interested applicants are required to attend.

Those interested in being a part of the task force should email the Rev. Elizabeth Murray at eamurray@umcsc.org by Feb. 28 with the following information:

  • Name
  • Contact information (email, phone, mailing address)
  • Church name
  • District
  • If lay, reference letter from pastor
  • What is your interest in the Hispanic/Latino Task Force?
  • What talents, skills or gifts do you bring to this team?

The task force will meet in person two to three times per year.
