Election of Delegates to 2020 General and Jurisdictional Conferences
At the 2019 South Carolina Annual Conference meeting in June, Annual Conference delegates will elect
delegates to attend the 2020 Southeastern Jurisdictional Conference and the 2020 General Conference.

Clergy Delegate Elections
In two separate votes, clergy delegates at the 2019 Annual Conference will elect eight clergy delegates to the 2020 General Conference, and eight clergy delegates to the 2020 Jurisdictional Conference. (General Conference delegates also will serve as Jurisdictional Conference delegates.)
- Eligible clergy members (full elders and deacons in good standing, active and retired) who are nominated by means of one of the forms linked below by Feb. 1, 2019, will be listed on the Annual Conference ballot.
- Those nominees will be assigned an election number, and their information will be included in pre-conference materials.
- Eligible clergy who are not nominated by Feb. 1, 2019, still may participate in the delegateÂ
election  process by means of a write-in ballot. - Eligible clergy members receiving 12 or more write-in votes on any ballot during the election process will be added to the clergy ballot.
- Standing Rule 28 governs the election of clergy delegates.

has passed.
Lay Delegate Elections
In two separate votes, lay delegates at the 2019 Annual Conference will elect eight lay delegates to the 2020 General Conference, and eight lay delegates to the 2020 Jurisdictional Conference. (General Conference delegates also will serve as Jurisdictional Conference delegates.)
- Each local church may submit nominations for lay delegates – selected by the Church Council, certified by the council chairperson and pastor – to the district superintendent by Jan. 10, 2019.
- A maximum of 120 names selected by the 12 districts will be presented to
the S.C . United Methodist Women, S.C. United Methodist Men, the Conference Board of the Laity, and the Conference Council on Youth Ministry. Each of these ministries may add up to five additional names. - Laity receiving 12 or more write-in votes on any ballot during the election process will be added to the lay ballot.
- Standing Rule 27 governs the election of lay delegates.
