In support of the United Methodist Church’s Abundant Health Initiative, volunteers at the 2018 South Carolina Annual Conference will package more than 10,000 UMCOR Health Kits to be shared with those in need around the world.
But before they can make that happen on June 5, the conference needs to pay for the supplies that go into the kits – and that’s where you can help now.
We are hoping to raise enough to cover the cost of materials for 10,200 Health Kits.
Financial donations are still being accepted!
“We are excited by the prospect of bringing together the efforts of multiple generations in the 2018 Annual Conference Mission Initiative,” said Chris Lynch, the conference congregational specialist who is helping coordinate the mission initiative.
“Whether it’s donating to help pay for the UMCOR Health Kits, volunteering to assemble them, or participating in our Hulapalooza-inspired attempt at breaking a world record, people of all ages in the South Carolina Annual Conference have an opportunity to participate.”

We are accepting financial donations only. Please, do not bring Health Kits or the materials to make them to Annual Conference.
Volunteers needed
We are encouraging youth groups to come together to help package the Health Kits, but “youth of all ages” also are invited.
Here’s how the schedule plays out:
- 2 p.m. – We will be packaging Health Kits starting at 2 p.m. June 5 at the TD Convention Center in Greenville.
- 4:30 p.m. – Inspired by Bishop L. Jonathan Holston’s Hulapalooza Challenge, we will be trying to break a Guinness World Record for the number of people who can hold hands, forming a long chain of humanity, and step one-by-one through a hula hoop without anyone on the chain losing hold of the hands on either side.
- Following the hula hoop event, the conference will host a hot dog supper for those youth who registered to volunteer.
