First United Methodist Church (First Cary) in Cary, North Carolina seeks a Children’s Ministry Associate who has a clear sense of calling to serve Christ in ministry with children and their families. The Associate will be someone who shares in the mission and ministry of the church, to share the heart of Christ from the heart of Cary. They will lead the Children’s ministry, maintaining and improving a comprehensive discipleship plan, in collaboration with the pastors, staff, volunteer leadership, families, and children.
The responsibilities of this position build on the well-established ministry of a large and thriving congregation. Weekly rhythms include programming on Sundays, some Wednesday evenings, as well as staff and team meetings as scheduled.
Other key responsibilities include mobilizing, equipping, and empowering volunteer leaders who are passionate about the spiritual formation of children, as well as having a deep understanding of child development utilizing current children’s ministry approaches. They will also partner alongside other ministry areas throughout the church, including the music, outreach, youth, and young adult ministries. The Associate must be forward thinking, adaptive, administrative, have strong communication skills, and provide solid follow-through for imagining, planning, and implementing Children’s Ministry programs. The Associate will also provide compassionate care for children and their families, including nurturing existing families and welcoming new families intentionally, while exemplifying a growing relationship with Christ.
The salary for this position is $45,000 – $51,000 with medical benefits. Salary is dependent upon education and experience. Preferred candidates have degrees in Christian Education and/or a seminary degree with Methodist-Wesleyan theology, and at least 2-3 years of experience.
