CAMDEN—The United Methodist Men’s Unit at Camden First United Methodist Church conducted their charter ceremony Oct. 25 during regular worship service.

This historical celebration took place at their church, located in Camden’s historical district.

The unit said it hopes the charter will help connect and encourage all men in the church to grow spiritually and in numbers.

Officers for the unit include Remond Cooper, president; Eric Hodge, vice president; David Hines, treasurer; David Williams, secretary; and the Rev. Samuel Maddox, chaplain.

Herman Lightsey, UMMen conference president, was in attendance to present the charter certificate.

“This chartering of Camden First Men’s Ministry is also historic because this church was started in 1866, but this is the first time they have chartered their men’s ministry,” Lightsey said. “Chartering is how we connect men’s ministry across the denomination.”3-Camden UMM Charter Ceremony
