It’s Finally Here!
Friends,
The 2016 General Conference is finally here. Some 864 lay and clergy from around the world have assembled in Portland, Oregon. Beginning with a time of confession and pardon that moves into a time of thanksgiving, these delegates will meet over the next two weeks for a time of prayer and planning to shape the future of the UMC for years to come.
I believe this is a time for South Carolina United Methodists to join with other United Methodists to “pray for the power of the Holy Spirit to move upon each participant and to move upon the conference as a whole in a mighty way so that the will of God be done!” This is my prayer for our time in Portland and for the people called United Methodist.
