Job Title:  Associate / Assistant Pastor

The Associate / Assistant Pastor at LUMC is a full-time position in which the following duties are included:

Daily Responsibilities

  • Work at the direction of the Senior Pastor and give pastoral support, guidance and training to the lay leadership in the church and strive to enhance the overall ministry of LUMC.
  • Assist the Senior Pastor with worship services, as well as, other special services and programs. Assist the Senior Pastor with the reception of new members, teaching and counseling, weddings and funerals, hospital, nursing home and home visitation
  • Preach, plan and coordinate the Sunday Anew (contemporary) services and the Tuesday Night Worship Services.
  • Keep regular office hours (8:30 am – 5:00 pm), as well as, attend weekly staff meetings. Pastoral calls and other duties may necessarily take the Associate / Assistant Pastor away from the office occasionally.
  • Assist with planning for the church’s ministry. Identify, recruit, train and assist persons who are serving or will serve in various offices. Assist in ordering materials and supplies as needed for programs.

Occasional Responsibilities

  • Attend church-related meetings (Church Council, Staff Parish Relations Committee, Outreach & Mission Teams, Lay Leadership Committee, Worship Committee, Finance Committee, Safe Sanctuary Committee and Trustees). Some evening work will be necessary to attend meetings.
  • Plan and coordinate Bible studies and other small group studies with Ministry Staff.
  • Provide support and training on various computer networking technologies to church staff and / or church members.
  • Help to conduct interviews for open LUMC Preschool positions and manage background checks. Along with the church staff, lead LUMC Preschool Chapel on a rotating schedule.

Education Requirement

Preference will be given to someone with a college, university or seminary degree affiliated with the United Methodist Church or someone with an educational background that provides a thorough understanding of Wesleyan theology.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
