Happy 10th Birthday – Sunday August 11, 2013

Aldersgate Special Needs Ministry was birthed ten years ago at the 2003 Annual Conference.  South Carolina Methodists have served the needs of the young, the old, and the disadvantaged for over 100 years.  This newest ministry to adults with developmental disabilities is in its infancy.  This growing need will require great efforts and great resources for us to make a significant difference.

Many of us have family members or friends with developmental disabilities who need, or will need, care beyond that which can be provided in the family home.  Aldersgate looks to develop ways to assist families through information, education, networking with available services as well as providing future new homes.  This will require a major investment of time, energy and money and will come to reality as we make funds available.

Thank you to the churches, individuals, Sunday School classes, study groups and other groups who hve supported Aldersgate with prayers, gifts and services.  South Carolina United Methodists and others have been very generous, getting Aldersgate off to a good start.  Aldersgate relies on your continued support.  While it is under the umbrella of the South Carolina Annual Conference, it is not an Advanced special, nor does it receive apportionments.

Your gifts on Aldersgate Special Needs Sunday, August 11, 2013 (or a day of your choosing) and your gifts during the year enable us to offer this ministry and to expand it.

Suggestions for Celebration at Your Church

1.  Pray for Aldersgate Special Needs Ministry
2. Have 10 members or families give $10.00 each as a birthday gift.
3. Have 10% of your members give $10.00 each as a birthday gift.
4. Have 100% of your members give $1.00 each as a birthday gift.
5. Have your church, Sunday School class, UMM, UMW, Choir, or Study Groups adopt Aldersgate.  As each member has a birthday, celebrate it with a gift to Aldersgate.
6. Give your church members a chance to support Aldersgate.
