The Clergy Session of the 2020 South Carolina Annual Conference has been scheduled as a virtual meeting at 9 a.m. August 1. Clergy will be able to participate virtually and safely with their own electronic devices.
Good News TV – our regular Annual Conference media partner – is hosting the virtual Clergy Session and helping coordinate participation and voting.
Clergy who missed the live virtual training sessions can view a recorded training session. All clergy are encouraged to prepare by viewing the virtual training.
What clergy members need to know:
- All South Carolina Conference clergy members have a voice in Clergy Session, but only deacons in full connection, elders in full connection, and all members of the Board of Ordained Ministry (lay and clergy) may vote (2016 Book of Discipline ¶602.1 a-d and ¶605.7).
- Neither provisional members nor local pastors (with the exceptions of those on the Board of Ordained Ministry) may vote on matters of ordination, character and conference relations of clergy.
- Good News TV is sending voter ID numbers to all clergy who are eligible to vote at their umcsc.org email addresses.
- Session planners are sending a copy of the annual Business Questions to all clergy members at their umcsc.org email addresses.
Thank you for your patience, flexibility and cooperation as we all are working hard to be faithful and creative with the work to which we have been called during these unprecedented times.
