The beginning of transforming the church is to measure and evaluate its current reality. Questions that help us understand that reality are:
Who are we?
When we assess our current reality, the church explores membership, attendance, finances and facilities. We assess the gifts of people who attend and participate.
Who is our neighbor?
We look at the needs, interests and concerns of the community. We need to know which of those the congregation can address with the resources the church can bring to bear.
What are we here for?
When we know who we are and who our neighbors (the community) are, we have a better understanding of where God is leading us. We know God’s mission and our vision.
What are we going to do about it?
God’s mission and our vision lead us to action.
