The enrollment period for 2021 health insurance benefits for clergy and employees of the South Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church is now open and runs through Nov. 12. Prepare and enroll now with resources found at
umcsc.org/healthflex.
Most aspects of HealthFlex 2021 are essentially the same as in 2020. Some changes include:
- The maximum out-of-pocket amounts for medical coverage have been reduced on all plans (except H3000) to match the B1000 (PPO) plan, which is $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for family coverage. The maximum out-of-pocket amount for H3000 has been reduced to $6,000 for an individual and $12,000 for a family.
- The VSP Full-Service vision plan now allows new frames every 12 months, rather than every 24 months. The VSP Premier vision plan now allows you to receive two pairs of glasses every 12 months or 1 pair of glasses and up to $200 toward contacts.
To make your elections and access the ALEX Benefits Counselor, log in to your personal account through HealthFlex/WebMD. Once you log in, you can learn more through the FAQs, brochures and factsheets found under “Details and FAQs” or by clicking “Annual Election.”
Savings accounts do not carry over from 2020 to 2021. Flexible spending accounts and dependent care accounts cannot be added after the Annual Election period has ended on Nov. 12.
Retired clergy 65 and older do not need to participate in the annual election. Simply follow the directions you should have received from AmWins. All retired clergy who need to make an election will be notified individually. Retirees with questions may call the Rev. Chris Lollis, conference benefits officer, at 803-602-0710.
