The dates and locations for 2019 Salkehatchie Summer Service camps have been announced. Registration is expected to be open within a few weeks.
Salkehatchie Summer Service is an autonomous mission supported entirely by its participants, the communities it serves, and the South Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church.
2019 Salkehatchie Camps
Forty-five camps – held Saturday-to-Saturday every week in June and July – will welcome some 2,000 youth volunteers for a week of:
- Performing home repairs in rural communities throughout South Carolina in teams
- Completing projects as small as a building a ramp or as big as remodeling an entire kitchen
- Making a bond with families from different backgrounds than their own
- Learning about teamwork and making friendships that last a lifetime
Volunteers of all skill sets are welcomed and encouraged to participate.
Salkehatchie is about hard work, making connections with families and other youth, and understanding our mission as children of God. It is more than just a church outreach program, a volunteer group, or just another summer youth camp.
Salkehatchie is faith in action, helping families feel comfortable and secure in their homes through the dedication and love of volunteers, without a single full-time or paid staff member.
