August 10, 2014, is designated Aldersgate Special Needs MinistrySunday by theSouth Carolina Annual Conference. We hope every church will celebrate by receiving the special offering on that date or a date chosen by the church.

Aldersgate is a ministry founded 11 years ago to provide homes for adults with intellectual disabilities where residents can live in a loving Christian environment, overseen by a dedicated professional staff.  There is around the clock care.

Aldersgate has 2 homes in operation.  One, in Columbia near Epworth Children’s Home, is home for six women.  The second, in Orangeburg, near The Oaks, is home for 6 men.

A third home, under construction in Florence, on the campus of The Methodist Manor of The Pee Dee, will be home for four men. Funding for construction is a gift in memory of Frederick “Rick” DeBerry, Jr. by his family. To be named “Rick’s House”, this home is expected to be completed in late Fall 2014.

Thank you to the churches, individuals, Sunday School classes and other groups who have supported Aldersgate with prayers, gifts and services.  Aldersgate relies on your continued support.  While it is under the umbrella of the South Carolina Annual Conference, it is not an Advanced Special, nor does it receive funding through apportionments.

Your gifts each year make it possible for Aldersgate to offer this ministry and enable it to grow.
